WoodLink Garden Wren and Chickadee House GSWCH

The chickadee and wren are the tamest of the songbirds and are the most likely to use nesting houses. This house should be put up in early spring and it is recommended that it be cleaned in late fall. However, we have found that wrens will reuse the house without cleaning . To discourage sparrows and predators, ALL bird houses should not have a perch and we strongly encourage installing a predator guard! Mount this house 5′ to 10′ high in an area that receives sun approximately 60% of the day.

Male wrens are known to build more than one house and when the female arrives she will choose the house she likes, sometimes rebuilding the nest. These song birds may have one or two broods during spring and summer.

The incubation time for the house wren is approximately 14 days and the young wrens will usually nest for 12-18 days. Both parents feed the young chicks with the male providing food for the female during incubation.
