This is the seed of a cosmo (or sunflower) like plant Guizotia abyssinica, it is pressed into  for cooking oil in africa and asia. This oil-rich seed is  known as Nyjer or Niger seed, and is a favorite of goldfinches and pine siskins. It is heat sterilized and will not sprout.
