Woodlink Cedar Bat Shelter model BAT5
Bats are extremely important. Yet due to years of unwarranted human fear and persecution, bats are in alarming decline. Bats consume huge quantities of night-flying insects (like mosquitoes) nightly. They are also responsible for pollinating flowers and propagating vegetation. Erecting a bat house provides bats with roosting or nursery space and helps keep them out of eaves and attics.
Bat houses are made to mimic the space between bark and a tree trunk which is why the space inside a bat house is very narrow.
A bat house should be mounted 10-15 feet high with a southern exposure and 5-8 feet of open space underneath for bats to easily depart the box without bumping into obstacles.
