DESCRIPTION:This is the second of a series of 3 wild mushroom hikes offered by our local FUNgal expert Mike Potts.  He will lead a slow-paced walk through the woods to teach about the world of wild fungi. The emphasis will be on finding fungi and learning something about identification and the diversity of mushroom species. Edible and poisonous varieties will be discussed. Meet at the Northwest Nature Shop\, 154 Oak St.\, Ashland at 10:00 am to carpool. Return to Ashland by 3:00 pm. Be prepared for adverse weather. Wear appropriate hiking shoes\, bring a water bottle\, a lunch\, and rain gear. Cost is $35 per person per hike. The 3 dates offered are Oct 12\, Oct 20 and Nov 9.  Space is limited so sign up early! SUMMARY:Spring Morel Hike
DESCRIPTION:Spring is here\, and it’s morel season once again! Morel mushrooms are not only delicious\, but an essential part of our local forest ecosystem. Join Bashira Muhamad of Zoom Out Mycology for an informative day out in the woods to learn about mushrooms\, and search for prized morel mushrooms. We will be discussing fungal ecology\, and sustainable harvest practices for mushroom foraging. The location will be within 20-45 minutes from Ashland\, and the final destination will be determined nearer to the date\, since mushroom season is variable each year. \n$30 per participant\, payment due upon sign up. Full refund available until Tuesday May 7th\, and otherwise we will refund 50% payment. \nRSVP and sign up in advance at the Northwest Nature Shop or call 541-482-3241 \nCarpool from the Northwest Nature Shop at 9am\, returning around 2pm.
