Birding with Kids!
May 21, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Calling all children! Join us for a fun birding adventure in the beautiful Lithia Park and experience an enriched, hands-on learning experience with naturalist Jeanine Moy. Spy on some new spring bird arrivals, and learn about the ecosystems that they are a part of. This kids-only hike will be sure to include jokes, riddles, and a bird-centric game. We are excited to get young learners inspired and outside!
Binoculars will be available to borrow.
Please meet in front of the Northwest Nature Shop at 154 Oak St. at 9 am on Saturday May 21st. We will return to the Nature Shop by 11am.
Jeanine is a naturalist, educator, and artist with 15 years of experience working with children. Hailing from NY state, she fell in love with nature in her own backyard and neighborhood forest. Jeanine graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Applied Ecology. She has worked as a botany field technician in the greater Yellowstone area, as project manager for an agroforestry research project in Ithaca NY, and as an outdoor educator in California and Colorado. Jeanine’s excitement for ecological diversity and environmental education brought her to Ashland in 2010 for a M.S. in Environmental Education at Southern Oregon University. She spent two years with KBO as Education Program Coordinator to create bird science curriculum and facilitate teacher development programs. Currently based in Ashland, Jeanine is Outreach Director for Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center (KS Wild), and has founded a summer program for children, Ashland Trail Trekkers.
