Spring Plant Hike in the Cascade Siskiyou National Monument
May 7, 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Immerse yourself in the world of native plants on May 7th with local plant enthusiast Nolan Richard. May is a great month to visit and learn about the plants of the Cascade Siskiyou National Monument, a land specifically protected for native plant and butterfly diversity. In this 4 hour hike, we will focus on Tree, Shrub, and Wildflower identification, local plant communities, and a couple edible plants.
Participants will meet at the Nature Shop at 12:30pm and return to Ashland by 6pm. We will be hiking the Greensprings loop (2.8 miles total) in very slow fashion.
Be prepared for adverse weather. Wear appropriate hiking shoes (We will be doing some off-trail walking on uneven terrain), bring a water bottle, snacks, a plant guide, or app (I recommend Oregon Wildflower Search). Space is limited (capped at 12 participants) so sign up early! Call 541-482-3241 to sign up, stop by NW Nature Shop during business hours (10 am-6pm), or email northwestnatureshop@gmail.com
