Rose Quartz Heart – 30 mm

Quartz occurs in a number of varieties some being semi-precious gemstones & rose quartz is one of the most interesting varieties. It’s pink to rose color is still a mystery to science. Some say that it is caused by impurities in the quartz, such as titanium, manganese, iron or even gold, but there have been studies performed that suggest the coloration may come from a totally new and as yet unknown fibrous mineral. Whatever the case, it is known that the pink color of rose quartz is photosensitive and can fade when exposed to sunlight.

Unlike regular quartz, rose quartz rarely forms distinguishable crystals. It is often found in massive chunks at the core of pegmatites (Igneous rock formations usually containing granite, and that often result in the formation of many rare minerals and gemstones). Rose quartz is the birthstone for those born in January, and has been said to help heal the heart and emotional wounds, while promoting forgiveness and compassion. To further emphasize what these rocks symbolize, these specimens have been formed into the shape of a heart. A great gift to someone you care for or as a wedding keepsake.
